April brings the promise of warmer days but beware of late spring frosts and snow.

If you have a greenhouse or windowsill you are probably bursting at the seams with small plants ready to plant out. Cloches are excellent for using as a 'nursery bed'. Sow seeds directly outside close together and cover with your garden cloche. When they have germinated and grown into small plants transplant them into their final growing positions. This is an excellent space saving technique.

You can also use your garden cloches to cover seed in the greenhouse for extra protection and warmth.

Harden off your plants under garden cloches before planting into their final growing position.

Seeds sown this month can be germinated indoors under heat or outdoors. Check your seeds packs for instructions.
